He was a really funny guy. His major portion of income would either go to entertain a group of disabled children whom he went to meet every now and then, taking time out of howsoever busy schedule he might have. One day he went to the NGO house meant for them. He went in an outfit of a joker and played with them for a long time. Suddenly one child slipped off a stair and went rolling down. Due to this he had many injuries in his head and went unconscious. Junaid alongwith a staff, took that child and rushed to the nearest hospital. It was Sagar’s hospital. Sagar was attending a patient, but seeing the child he at once took a leave and went to the OT (operation theatre).
There were some major injuries in his head as well as some minor in his legs. It took 3 hours for that operation to get over. Sagar came out and asked Junaid to call his parents, but then he came to know that he was an orphan (or probably his parents had left him when they came to know about his disability) from that staff. That staff also replied that his organisation didn’t have enough funding that they could pay for all the expenses of the child. Now this was the biggest weakness of Sagar, he just didn't bother about money when it came to the treatment of a ‘child’ and especially children of poor people. That incident(during Karan's operation) was still very much profound in his mind. Though his own hospital had been running into losses, he just gave a comforting smile to both of them and told Junaid that the child was fine.
As he was going ahead Anjali came running to Sagar and said that the bank, from which they had taken loan for the new equipments installed last year, had sent them a legal notice to pay the money back to them alongwith the interest within one month or they shall take Sagar to court.
Sagar gave a fake smile and said, 'Ohh!!! court, never mind. One should have experience of everything in life.' He winked and went on to see other patient.
Junaid heard all this. He took the excuse of staff for some time and went to Anjali to enquire about the problem that hospital was facing. Initially Anjali hesitated a bit to talk about their problem to some stranger but Junaid left no stone unturned to make her comfortable, after which she told him each and every problem that the hospital was facing.
Though he himself was not a millionaire or a son of some millionaire to take Sagar out of this money crisis but then he thought probably that was one of the greatest challenge infront of him till now. And helping out Sagar won’t be a easy job but if at all he could do something… and he knew that he certainly had that passion and skills to do so. He at once went to Sagar with Anjali (having convinced her about his profession).
Sagar very politely told Junaid that this was not a case of promoting some company and getting them to sell their products, but they were badly into debt and Junaid would put himself into greater trouble by trying to assist Sagar.Hearing this Junaid started laughing.
He told Sagar,‘Money…haa, it was never a motive of mine to get into this work, I have a rich dad who can fulfil any of my wishes even without me workin for it. I am here because I love my job, I work for those soothing smile that I can put on someone’s face by doing this, I’m here for every child whose parents have left them to fight their disability on their own. When I saw you operating that child without even trying to know that you might not even get minimum operating charges back, I came to realise what this Hospital is intended for. And now if I can help to save it from the financial crunch its facing, with a little talent that I possess I would consider myself lucky. And then don't think anything else you may think that I'm that child's guardian and am just trying to pay his fee (with wicked smile on jis face). And as far as trouble is concerned I guess, my country would be in much much more trouble if at all this hospital gets shut and you people insteed of treating people start going to court to have new experience :P.’
Sagar stood and put his hand forward and said ‘welcome to our world’. His sincerity and commitment were enough for Sagar.
Juniad studied the history of hospital and also the companies and banks from which it had taken loans or had been sponsored. Then he tried to get complete information about the research work taken by the hospital as this was the one thing that Sagar had tried to keep immune even during the financial crunch that hospital was facing. There were some of the really important research works going on in the hospital. Junaid got the full list of these and tried to know which international organisations and hospitals were also involved in the same projects who could fund Sagar’s hospital.
After two days he met Sagar and told him about what he had planned to do and what how he expected things to go in order to get themselves associated with a chain of hospitals in Canada working on the same treatment research work as Sagar’s hospital was. He had read on net that that group was sponsoring some 5 hospitals in the subcontinent for their contribution in that field as it was emerging as the major source of concern for medical science in the recent years.
And this was the work Sagar had worked upon since he took over the charge of hospital and had went on to have some real good findings and achievements, and collaborating at this stage with the research team of Canada would benefit both of them in a great way. Sagar on hearing Junaid patiently, decided to not let this opportunity go and started working on every minute things required and getting all the results and findings accumulated at one place.
It took a month for Junaid to convince those people and finally when they approved the report which they mailed them, the Canadian hospital sent its team to India to have a look on the facilities available here. The presentation was handled by Sagar himself and the team was immensely satisfied seeing the amount of research work done, treatments discovered and enthusiasm of doctors here, so they were ready to fund the hospital. Once hospital got the approval from that team, suddenly offers from various NGOs, companies and all other organisations who had earlier rejected, started pouring in and again hospital came on right track of development with some new measures and developments taking the downfall as a learning step for future.
By then Karan’s proposal to set up the company in India was passed and he became really busy handling all those stuffs of getting land, all the paper work and government things. He was really excited having done all the things on his own and he could see the dream, which he saw few years back in the school, being enlightened again because of the hard work he did. Now he could feel how close he had come and still how far it was to actually turn that dream to reality. But this convincing of all the members of his company had given his new strength and confidence to move ahead.
hmm...nice
