13. End of college life and a new begining

So, in this way our second year in college also came to an end. On our other trips to nearby villages, we also came across some atrocious diseases called ‘inequality and child marriages’. The discrimination based on caste had entered so deeply into each and every aspect of their life that it was terrifying to see the condition of some lower caste people. Child marriages, mostly due to lack of awareness about education, was the most disheartening thing to see little children being pushed into a life which would destroy almost every opportunity for them. These all came biting upon us, and we just didn’t want to be a mere spectator in a crowd whose main motive is to live happily themselves whatsoever the case maybe and for rest of the world their attitude is like ‘go to hell’ (none of my business).

The fire which just arose as a minor spark in our schooldays had taken a different and a much profound shape by then. Like this, there were many phases which we went through in our college life. In our school days, when we were at home, we were actually unexposed to the real life. We lived in a dream and just saw things as they looked from outside. The real joy of an achievement, the pains and sufferings of people, and many more experiences that made us much more resolute, and a bit more practical. Initially, we thought that we can do anything we want, in our own way and we would face no difficulties in doing so. Our school life gave us an aim to pursue and one thing that our college life gave us, was the strength and methods to go about, handle various situations in best possible way, not to keep ourselves down in case of any failures. But, to take one more step optimistically, expecting it to give a bigger success.

As our college life came to an end, everyone had planned their way. Sagar had joined a specialization course on abdominal tumour and was still associated with the research work which he had joined. His team was actually doing very well and had officially completed 35% of the research work, with some positive solutions too. Having got an MBBS degree, now he was officially a doctor, and had been examining patients in his medical college. As he was always inclined towards the population who were economically not sound enough to get proper treatment, he somehow convinced his seniors and faculty members for a free medical camp in the nearby villages. And as far as sponsorship was concerned, Sagar and Anjali had developed many contacts with some companies who were keen to get involved in the social activities. Companies in turn got a chance to improve its image of being socially responsible and also got publicity. Anyways, what Sagar wanted was done. He used to go to as far as he could to inform villagers, beggers and all kinds of disabled people to make maximum possible use of that opportunity. He left no stone unturned to see that every seeker of help gets it. Due to which he also got recognition, he was known by people for doing so many things at such an age. Villagers started admiring him and also started sharing some of the facts, which helped Sagar to go the root cause of many dieases, and thereby trying to uproot them, then only. This recognition also helped him to get better sponsorships, and also good offers from respectful hospitals.

At the same time, Disha had joined an M.Sc course on Environmental Ecology. She had been going out to places, sometimes for assignments and sometime on her own with some friends to know about the various issues around her which led to such an uncertain climatic conditions. She had been doing an intensive research on pollution due to automobiles, industries nearby and use of pesticides in farms which was drained to water resources. She had been associated with Rotary Club and was conducting various seminars, which had a very good response. Soon, she was representing her state in various national meets of the club. As most of her talks were based on the works she actually performed, and the suggestions that she used to give during conclusion were quite do-able, her efforts were appreciated by some known specialists in those field.

For Karan, it was a difficult decision, but he had to go abroad, he knew that in order to achieve what he wanted to, he had to have enough practical knowledge of new technologies, studies and developments in Solar Energy utilization. He was not reluctant to go abroad but somehow not willing to leave India. But then, we all said him that he was going there for some big reason, and his personal willingness and unwillingness shouldn’t come in his way. If going abroad was the only solution then, he should rather look forward to this in a positive manner. He had started preparing for GRE in his college and cleared it in the first attempt. He joined a college in US, and became really optimistic about the whole situation as he got the college which he wanted and teachers there were really helpful as Karan had a conversation with them on net before opting the college. They themselves were very much involved in the experimental findings and had so much to offer. Karan, was a bit surprised by the gap between research works in India and in US, they had already started using the stuffs, which Indian companies were experimenting upon. Anyways, he had got a great opportunity to be there and was trying to make maximum possible use of it.

Meanwhile, I knew that I need to build up proper credibility, before entering politics, otherwise I would also become one of the many people who join politics for bringing about change but themselves change and become a lame listener amidst more powerful politicians. I decided about doing MBA and working in business field for some time and then going into politics. After college, I joined a coaching institute for next 6 months which were left before CAT examinations. At the same time, I also helped my Dad in his business and tried to gain some practical knowledge about how things work in business. I went with my Dad to various places and one thing I became sure about was that, no-one could withstand when my father starts bargaining for things. Even from some of the steadfast people, he used to get a nice discount on the orders he placed. His convincing power and negotiating skills were just too good and I had learnt a lot over the period of time I assisted him in his work. Though in some places I thought I could have handled the situation in a better way, but the main thing was he got his job done and actually people were accustomed with his nature and knew very well that, it was better to go with my Dad, rather to try hard opposing him(which would have resulted in nothing). They respected him as he used to end all of his conversations in a positive note and tried to make the other person feel happy about the deal. After that, I joined the Management Institute.
